Magical Holiday Escape
My perfect weekend is the first weekend of the month of December. We travel and arrive at the Christmas Prelude in Kennebunkport Maine. Accomadations were at the Kings Port Inn. So festive and cozy to stay in. Luxury room with a full Jacuzzi in the bathroom. Bar at the Inn stays open all night. Decorations are everwhere, and tree lightings. Annual hat parade is full of fun and extravagant hats and costumes. Some come in large groups with matching hats and outfits, others are children, couples and even singles. We meet at a parking lot and all traffic is stopped while we march through the center of town. There is shopping galore where you can buy almost anything your looking for on your christmas list. One of the nights everyone in town walks to the monastery to eat roasted chestnuts and light candles singing holiday carols. Restaurants are fabulous, with lunch at Allison's, small coffee shop and cafe and Captain Jacks for the best seafood and steaks. Throughout the weekend ... more
